Hennell was a friend of author George Eliot, and she and her sisters may have been the inspiration for the Meyrick family in Eliot's novel Daniel Deronda. Hennell was also an active campaigner for women's rights. This volume comprises four of her treatises, originally published separately as: Comparativism; Comparative Metaphysics I; Comparative Metaphysics II; Comparative Metaphysics III.
